Can your site be found? . .
Practically all Internet users query Search Engines (SEs) on a regular basis to find information on the Web.
Getting your Web site included in search engine and directory listings is very important if you want people to be able to find it - and I'm sure you do! Some search engines (an ever diminishing number) still accept free submissions but more and more require payment before they will list a site
Although there are hundreds of search engines, over 90% of search engine enquiries are made through just a few of the top search engines. I would suggest that you register your site with the major free submission search engines listed opposite.
Note: Virtually all the important search engines, including MSN and AOL, now take their data either from Google or Yahoo Search - getting listed on those two search engines will get you listed on most others that matter.
Please note that Yahoo Directory and Yahoo Search are quite different. Yahoo Directory is the original Yahoo, compiled manually by people, Yahoo Search is a more recently introduced automatic spidering search engine designed to compete directly with Google. Submission to Yahoo Search is free but requires you to sign-up as a member first.
Each search engine site provides a form where you can submit your site's web address (URL) for inclusion in their lists. In the right margin of this page we have included a (Go) quick link button to enable you to visit each search engine directly from this page, in most cases the button will take you straight to the actual Web site submission form.
Read the site submission instructions for each engine carefully and be sure to enter your details carefully.
If your Web site is already listed by the directories - Yahoo Directory or Dmoz, DO NOT resubmit since they, unlike the automatic search engines, rely on human beings visiting and checking your site for suitability. If you annoy them with repeat submissions you could risk being banned. Please note that Yahoo Directory policy now is that they require payment to list a commercial site!

After submitting your site simply close this second window to return to the list of search engines ready to visit the next.
